  关于中秋节的英语作文

in china, the mid-autumn festival is considered a symbol of family reunion. on this day, all the family members gather at home to celebrate this special day. last year, i couldn't celebrate this festival with my family, because i was in college. however, this special day left a deep impression on me.

i still remember the atmosphere of that night. all the students who could not go home gathered in our classroom and held a party to celebrate the traditional festival. we tried our best to show our enthusiasm. as a minority, i performed a peacock dance and received warm applause. after the two-hour party, we went to the playground and sat together to enjoy the full moon, because it is a tradition of the mid-autumn festival. we ate moon cakes, played cards and listened to a romantic poem read by a classmate. in that harmonious atmosphere, no one feels lonely or homesick, even if we are far away from home.

thanks to my classmates, i spent a colorful and interesting mid-autumn festival in college. i learned to cherish all the festivals in my college life.

mid-autumn festival has a lot of interesting history. a long time ago, in a dynasty in china, there was a king who was very cruel to his people and did not govern the country well. the people were very angry, and some brave men suggested that the king should be killed. so they wrote notes about where and when the meeting would take place, and put them into the cake. on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, everyone is told to buy cakes. when they were eating the cake, they found the note. so they gathered and made a surprise attack on the king. since then, chinese people celebrate the 8th day of the 8th lunar month on the 15th and eat "moon cakes" to commemorate that important event.

as the mid-autumn festival draws near, shop windows are beautifully decorated and many "mooncakes" are displayed for people to buy. people give wine, fruits, "mooncakes" and other gifts to their friends and relatives. hey, look at the moon in the garden. the children ran up and down the street laughing.

it is believed that the moon is the brightest on this night, many poems about the moon have been written, the poets are never too tired to read and write such poems, in chinese literature, the moon on the mid-autumn festival is whittled into a mirror, a jade rabbit, and so on. chinese literature seems to be more interested in the moon than the sun.
